FAQ
How is architecture planning different from a technical specification?
A technical specification describes what the product does: functionality, roles, scenarios. Architecture planning describes how it does it internally: what components it consists of, where and how it stores data, what it talks to externally, what it runs on. The first document is read by both business and developers; the second mainly by developers and DevOps.
What exactly will I receive?
A document with component diagrams, a data model, integration and infrastructure descriptions, and the rationale behind the stack. Diagrams are delivered in an editable format, the document in Google Docs and PDF.
Why order this if developers will choose the technology themselves?
They will — but usually the technology they already know, rather than the one that best fits the task. An independent architecture locks in technical decisions before development starts and lets you compare contractors against the same plan instead of against their promises.
Won't the architecture be too complex for my project?
Complexity is matched to the task. For most products, the right answer is a simple solution that’s easy to maintain and extend. Over-engineered architecture costs money during development and even more during maintenance, so we deliberately avoid it.
What do you need from me to start?
An understanding of the product and expected load: how many users, what data volumes, any integration or security requirements. If you have a technical specification or a prototype, send them over — the work will go faster and more precisely.
Will this work if my product is already live?
Yes. In that case we first examine the existing system, identify bottlenecks, and propose a target architecture along with a path to get there. A zero-downtime migration plan is available as an additional service.
How much will infrastructure cost under this architecture?
A monthly cost calculation for hosting and external services is included in the base price — you get concrete figures, not “it depends on the load”. A 3-year forecast across different growth scenarios is available as an additional service.
Who owns the materials?
You do, with no restrictions. You can share the document and diagrams with any contractor, modify them, and attach them to a contract.
How many revisions are included and what if I need more?
Two rounds within 7 days of delivery. A round is one consolidated list of comments that we work through in full. An extra cycle costs $150 and adds 2 business days.
Will you help me choose a development contractor?
A finished architecture plan simplifies the choice on its own: contractors give comparable quotes based on the same inputs. If you’d like us involved in technically evaluating proposals, that can be arranged separately.
