FAQ
How is this different from the "Product Research" service?
Competitor analysis looks at the market from the companies side: who offers what, at what price, and how they position themselves. Product research adds the user voice — interviews, needs, barriers. If you need a quick read on the market landscape, competitor analysis is enough; if you are validating the idea itself, take the research, which includes competitors.
What exactly will I receive?
A Google Sheet comparing 7–10 competitors on features, pricing, positioning and channels, plus a report in Google Docs and PDF with conclusions and a list of opportunities for your product.
How do you choose which competitors to analyse?
We build the list at the brief: we take the companies you consider competitors and add the ones we find ourselves — often businesses from a different category solving the same user problem. We cover both direct and indirect competitors.
Where do you get the data?
Open sources: competitor websites and price lists, their demos and free tiers, customer reviews, job postings, public filings, and traffic analytics services. Every finding in the report carries a link to its source.
What do you need from me to start?
An understanding of your niche and who customers compare you to. Naming 3–5 companies as a starting point is enough — we will find the rest.
Will this work if my niche is narrow and I have almost no direct competitors?
Yes, and those are the cases where it helps most. Where direct competitors are few, we analyse indirect ones — businesses solving the same user problem a different way. A complete absence of competitors usually signals not an empty market but an absence of demand, and that is worth knowing too.
How quickly does this analysis go out of date?
Pricing and features change slowly in most niches, so the report stays useful for 6–12 months. The section on ad campaigns ages fastest and is worth refreshing more often.
Who owns the materials?
You do, with no restrictions. The table and report can be shared with your team and contractors, or used in an investor presentation.
How many revisions are included and what if I need more?
Two rounds within 7 days of delivery. A round is one consolidated list of comments that we work through in full. An extra cycle costs $80 and adds 1 business day.
What do I do with the results?
Most often the next step is validating the opportunities you found with real users — that is the Product Research service — or moving straight into designing the product as a prototype. Both build naturally on this report.
