FAQ
How is this different from "Roadmap & Milestone Planning"?
The roadmap answers what comes after what; this service answers how long it takes and when it will be ready. The roadmap sets the sequence, the estimate layers effort, team composition and a calendar onto it. Together they give the full planning picture, but either can be ordered on its own.
What exactly will I receive?
A Google Sheet breaking the scope into tasks with an hourly estimate for each, a calendar plan with dates and stages, a budget calculation, and a document in Google Docs and PDF explaining the method, the assumptions and the risks.
How accurate is the estimate?
The realistic scenario typically holds within ±20–25%, which is normal accuracy for planning before development starts. Accuracy depends directly on how well defined the scope is: an estimate built on a finished technical specification lands far closer than one built on a general description of an idea.
Why three scenarios rather than one number?
Because a single number is always either optimism or a hidden buffer. We show the boundaries: what happens if everything goes to plan, what happens with ordinary delays, and what happens if the risks materialise. With that range you make budget decisions deliberately rather than hopefully.
What do you need from me to start?
As well-defined a scope as possible. Ideally a technical specification or a prototype; a structured feature list also works. If the scope is not yet fixed, start with MVP Scope Definition — otherwise we would be estimating assumptions rather than work.
Can I hold a contractor to these timelines?
The estimate gives you a benchmark for negotiation and a way to spot proposals that are inflated or unrealistically low. But the commitment on timelines belongs to the team doing the work — our document is an argument in that conversation, not a contract on their behalf.
Do you account for design and testing?
Yes, where those stages are part of the project. Design, development, testing, bug fixing, deployment and acceptance each appear as separate lines — these are exactly the items where “optimistic” estimates most often part company with reality.
What if the estimate comes out above my budget?
That happens often, and the document is built for it: each group of tasks carries a note on what changes if you remove or simplify it. Alongside the estimate you get options for cutting scope to fit the budget, rather than a number you can do nothing with.
Who owns the materials?
You do, with no restrictions. The spreadsheet and document can be shared with contractors, used in a tender, and attached to a contract.
How many revisions are included and what if I need more?
Two rounds within 7 days of delivery. A round is one consolidated list of comments that we work through in full. An extra cycle costs $100 and adds 1 business day.
