FAQ
Why update if the site works anyway?
Most WordPress hacks happen through old plugin versions with known holes — they are documented publicly, and bots scan sites for exactly those. Old PHP is also slower and eventually stops being supported by hosts. Updating is cheaper than recovering from a hack.
How long does the work take?
2 days. Day one is the backup, compatibility check and a trial update on a copy of the site. Day two is the production update, page checks and the report. If you need it today, we take your project as priority and do it in one day.
Can the site break after the update?
That is exactly why we update a copy first, not the live site. If something conflicts on the copy, we resolve it there and only then move to production. The full backup taken at the start lets us roll back at any moment.
What if a plugin is no longer updated by its developer?
We say so in the report: we leave such a plugin alone because there is nothing to update. From there it is two options — keep it as is if it is not critical, or replace it with a maintained alternative. Replacement is a separate add-on.
Will you update PHP?
Yes, it is part of the base. Before switching we check that the theme and plugins support the new version, and only then change it on the hosting. If the site’s custom code is incompatible with the new PHP, that is fixed separately.
I have paid plugins with expired licenses — what about them?
Without a license a plugin does not receive updates, and we cannot update it legitimately. We tell you which plugins need a license renewal, and the decision is yours: renew or replace with an alternative.
Will the site be down during the update?
No. Core and plugin updates take seconds, and the checking is done on a copy in advance. At most, visitors may see a maintenance notice for a few seconds during the core update.
How often should I update?
Plugins release updates almost every week, WordPress core a few times a year. The optimal rhythm is a full update every 1-2 months, with security updates applied right away. Security auto-updates can be enabled for that.
Can you update on a regular basis?
This service is a one-off. If you need updates on a schedule, we agree on that separately after the first update, once we know your site’s specifics.
What access do you need?
Site admin panel with administrator rights and the hosting panel or FTP for the backup and PHP version change. If you have paid plugins, access to their licenses. Everything is agreed upfront.
