FAQ
How are brand guidelines different from the identity pack?
The pack is the material: palette, typography, elements, ready layouts. The guidelines are the rules for building new things from that material. The pack answers what you have; the guidelines answer how to use it and what not to do.
Do I actually need brand guidelines?
Not always. If all your design comes from one person or one studio, the identity pack is enough — the rules live in the head of whoever does the work. Guidelines pay off when materials come from different people: an in-house marketer, an advertising contractor, a print shop, a social media agency. Without the document, every new contractor interprets the identity their own way, and within a year the brand drifts apart.
What exactly will I receive?
A 40–70 page PDF and an online version with navigation. Inside: positioning and brand essence in brief, detailed logo rules with clear space and minimum sizes, colour and typography standards, rules for photography and graphics, tone of voice with sample wording, and a section on incorrect usage.
What do you need from me to start?
A finished logo and visual identity — guidelines describe what already exists rather than creating it. Plus an understanding of your positioning: who you serve, what makes you different, how you want to sound. If there is no identity yet, start with the Brand Identity Pack.
How many pages will the document be?
Usually 40–70. The length depends not on our preference but on how many assets and channels you have: a company with print, merchandise and a digital product needs more rules than a business that lives only online.
Does this include logo and identity design?
No, both need to be ready. Guidelines are the third step after the logo and the identity pack. Writing rules for something that does not exist yet makes no sense.
Can I get the guidelines cheaper alongside the identity pack?
Yes. Ordered as an addition to the pack, the guidelines cost $400 instead of $700: we are already immersed in the project and spend no time studying the materials again. On their own they cost more for exactly that reason.
Does this include brand platform and marketing strategy?
We cover positioning briefly — just enough to explain the visual and communication decisions. A full brand platform with audience research, values and communication strategy is a separate piece of work, outside the scope of this service.
How many revisions are included and what if I need more?
Two rounds within 7 days of delivery. A round is one consolidated list of comments that we work through in full. An extra cycle costs $150 and adds 2 business days.
What happens when the brand changes?
The online version stays with you with edit access, so your team handles small changes themselves. If the logo or identity itself changes, that is a rebrand, and the guidelines are reworked alongside them, usually as part of that project.
